Securing Your Computer
(You may wish to print this to make it easier to refer to while you secure your system)

• Right now, or just as soon as you have time, go to this website and download (for free) Spybot Search and Destroy. http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html .
• A "file download" window will open and ask you some options...
• Click the "save" button (and it will ask you how you want to save it - just use the default name that shows up)
• It will proceed to download (not sure how long it will take)
• When its done downloading, click the "open" button and it will proceed to install the program.
• After the installation has completed, run the program
• A warning box may pop-up telling you that you have "compatibility problems" - just click OK

• FIRST click the "Update" button on the left side. This opens up a new window in the main area.
• Click the button near the top of the window "Search for updates". This looks for any new info and makes sure you have all the latest blocks installed on your version (there are some 17,000+ offenders and growing)
• You will either be told "no newer updates are available", or it will show a small list of items that you should get.
• Click the check boxes next to ALL the available updates, then click the button near the top that says "Download Updates" (They will automatically be downloaded and installed to the program)
• Next, Click the button on the left that says "Search & Destroy". This will open another window in the main area.
• Click the button "Check for Problems" and the program starts to run (it may take a while, and runs much faster if you aren't using you computer for other functions while it crunches your system).
• On the very first run, it will more than likely find ALL KINDS of problems.... check them ALL - even if they look important!
• Then click the button "Fix selected problems"
• Next, click the button on the left that says "Immunize".
• Click the Immunize button at the TOP of the page. This will keep any future installations of known spyware/adware from being installed on your system as you run into them while browsing.

That's it! Close the program. There are lots of advanced options and additional protections available, most of which you will never need to concern yourself with.
