DNS
Domain Name Servers, or DNS, are computers scattered all around the world who's function is to "match" any domain name with its corresponding IP address. When you point your browser to ANY domain, it will go thru dozens of DN Servers before it reaches the final destination. For whatever reason(s), these servers can become corrupt. Sometimes the only way to get a DNS issue resolved is to contact your local ISP and tell them of your connection problem. Sometimes, however, you can fix the corrupt server on your own by logging in directly through our member site's IP address. To do this, Click this URL: http://82.165.229.4/login.html. This bypasses the domain name servers altogether, but as soon as you complete the login by entering your username and password, the faulty DNS server is often immediately updated. IF you get an error, the DNS did NOT get properly updated... read on...

Keep Your System Software Up-to-Date for Free
(assuming you are running Windows as 97+% of our members do)

In the Microsoft system of things it is a really good idea to keep current on the latest updates and patches by going to "Windows Update" on a regular basis - or having your system "Update Automatically". You can get BOTH the most current updates and instructions on how to have your system automatically updated here:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

And be sure you have the latest browser version of Internet Explorer by going to: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

Junk Microsoft Stores on Your PC

Microsoft saves stuff on your computer that they say "helps speed things up". We say it causes problems. There is a utility called called "Disk Cleanup". To use it

  1. Close ALL Internet Explorer (or other browser) windows
  2. Go to the utility: Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup
  3. It will first tell you it is compressing old files, then a pop-up box appears
  4. Make sure ALL the option boxes are selected and click OK

The utility takes only a few minutes to run, depending on your system. It a good idea to restart your system after running this utility

If all else fails, wait 24 hours for the DNS to repair itself (they are supposed to update themselves AT LEAST every 24 hours)
